Our School

Our School Values & Ethos...

"To provide the best possible education to our pupils in a safe, caring and Christian Environment"

Our School's Mission Statement...

"We recognise that the children are our future - what they experience here they take into tomorrow, let that be; hope, enthusiasm, resilience, knowledge and understanding, confidence, self-respect, love for one another, kindness and care for others and a zest for living"

Our School Aims...

The Governors, Staff and Children of Green Hammerton School have all contributed to the aims of the school. The five outcomes of the Children's Act underpin the school aims and all curriculum documentation within school. Our aims are firmly set within the school's prevailing Christian ethos as a long established Church of England school which values its status as a part of the parish of Whixley and Green Hammerton. The aims are:

  • To encourage the children to be confident, happy and successful in their school activities. To act in a co-operative and responsible manner, with an understanding of the expected level of behaviour, so that they become valued, thinking, contributing members of the communities of which they are a part
  • To provide a safe, exciting and happy learning environment whereby each child may reach their full potential intellectually, socially and physically.
  • To develop a partnership between parents and guardians, staff, governors, pupils, and the community.
  • To provide a rich, broad and balanced curriculum and environment, which is fully inclusive for every child. To encourage the children to gain a sense of value, care and concern for themselves, for others, and for the environment.
  • To help pupils develop lively, enquiring and creative minds. The ability to question and argue rationally and to apply themselves to tasks and skills.
  • To help pupils develop an understanding of education as a life-long and enjoyable process
  • To help pupils gain respect for religious and moral values and tolerance of others. As a Church of England school we seek to promote Christian values and attitudes, particularly through our acts of Collective Worship and our pastoral care.

British Values in our School...

As a school we a have a duty to “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.” (DFE). Please find more information on how we promote British Values at Green Hammerton School by clicking on the British Values link.
